Therapeutic Approach

Kirstie is trained in a number of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), attachment-based frameworks, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). Kirstie is committed to providing inclusive and accessible psychological support that empowers individuals, families, and communities. Her therapeutic approach is client centred, and she is passionate about working collaboratively with clients to achieve their therapy goals in a supportive and comfortable environment. She believes that all clients deserve to feel safe and understood during the therapy process.

Kirstie Machen - Clinical Psychologist

Kirstie is a Clinical Psychologist and Board Approved supervisor registered with AHPRA. She has experience supporting clients of all ages and life stages, with a particular interest in working with adolescents. She has experience working across both private practice and public settings, working with a broad spectrum of presenting issues. Kirstie has experience supporting clients with a range of psychological presentations including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, neurodiversity, suicidality and self-harm, addiction (including drugs, alcohol, and gambling), adjustment and stress disorders, and personality disorders. She also regularly supports clients through family and relationship breakdowns, and difficulties with low self-esteem and self-worth. She is a trauma informed therapist and supports clients to work through traumatic events, ranging from childhood abuse to domestic violence.
